Covered California announced participants for the new Small Group Health Options Program (SHOP) marketplace. Six health insurance plans will be made available. The participants will include:
- Blue Shield of California
- Chinese Community Health Plan
- Health Net
- Kaiser Permanente
- Sharp Health Plan
- Western Health Advantage
The plans, a mix of HMOs and PPOs, will be sold through licensed agents who are trained and certified by Covered California.
If there was such a thing as "the Caucasian Community health plan", instead of the "Chinese Community Health Plan", would it be permitted to be a participant in the SHOP Marketplace? Is the favoring of one ethnic group over others an appropriate action? Dave Stepek
Will the plan premium rates offered by these selected carriers be individually "age-banded" as they are for current small group health plans?
Yes.
