I don’t want to believe this, but I was told that clients who signed up with effective dates of 4/1 & 5/1 will still be penalized the 1%. Coveredca informed me that even though open enrollment went to 5/1, it doesn’t matter for those clients. They will pay the penalty because they did not have coverage for 90 days. Can you confirm this? I will have a lot of angry clients who were led to believe that signing up in “open enrollment” meant just that and without penalty. Thanks.
