Can't Verify Social Security Numbers?

By on | 6 Comments

Question: We recently received an e-mail from Covered California saying we have 90 day conditional approval. This is due to not verifying our SSN to our application. My wife and I are both lifelong California residents and had the same SSN for over 50 years. How could Covered California not be able to verify this? Also, I have Blue Shield now thru Covered California and have paid the premium. Could I lose this insurance after 90 days?

Answer: Covered California's enrollment processing system has some bugs, like making illogical requests for verification documents. You can clear this up once you can get through to a Covered California service rep on the phone. They can remove the requirement from your account. The CC phone situation should begin the loosen up this week but there's no rush to resolve this.

I have lost my Cert of Naturalization, will Cov. CA now accept US passport instead?

Hi,

I got a request for a copy of my social security card to verify the name. I faxed in it over two months ago. There is nothing in my account at covered California, not even an acknowledgement of receiving my ss card.

Should I be concerned or follow up with covered California?

Agent 2, I have been locked out as well. You need to call SHOP service line and have them reset your account.

Bob, I advise every client to send their documents via regular mail and it seems to work so far.

I also received a third letter requesting income verification yet they (CoveredCA) have two income documents still sitting in my folder marked pending review. It is very disconcerting but like Phil says I will cool my heels and wait to see if this clears up.

Last week the system started asking a security question to proceed with log-in. I know the answer I submitted was correct but it was a two part answer. The system locked me out and now I can’t log-in to my Agent page. Any suggestions? What number should I call?

Can R1 worker qualify for Covered CA? She has been here for 3 yrs?
