Getting Confirmation of Coverage?

By on | 11 Comments

Question: I applied 10/25. Never heard anything from CC. Realized proof of income needed to be uploaded 11/21 when I was just clicking around the site. Uploaded last years taxes with an explanation as to why certain income no longer will apply. No response. I can see the upload in the documents and verification section so I know they have it. People are talking about receiving approval letters or requests for ID, etc., but I have heard nothing. NO secure message either. I can’t get through to CC to ask by phone or chat. Blue Shield has no record of me. My enrollment web page shows BS starting 1/1/2014 although the summary page says enrollment is pending (with conditional eligility). Should I worry that I have heard absolutely nothing? I desperately need insurance in January.

Answer: You shouldn’t be worried, but for your peace of mind call this number at Blue Shield to confirm your coverage - 855-836-9705.

I notice that around 45 of my clients that I have completed and submitted, they are not showing in my agent’s enrollment list, I try to find their name on my agent website, but they are not there. I have the client log in their account and they are still able to pick an Agent, and even if they pick me as their Agent, I can only see them in my active client list as completed client, but not in my enrollment list. What is going on? do I get credit and commission for this? do I need to re-do the application?

I have run into SAME problem- NOT SHOWING UP IN CARRIER’S SYSTEM AS AGENT! Cases that designated me as their CIAgent and I accepted and they are ACTIVE and I can see all the case information… but set up their own account and did the online application themselves (with my assistance by phone or personal meetings) and are through the whole process including plan selection/enrollment and payment confirmed do NOT show as Enrollments in my Dashboard and CARRIERS are not showing me as AGENT…Another GLITCH in the system??? Interesting that those clients that I have enrolled by “Adding Individual” then inputting the data from the paper apps- once completed and plan selected- they instantly show up as Enrollments with the graph chart/enrollment count and all those have me as AGENT in Carriers system. HELP???!

I just spent an hour on the phone trying to get through to Anthem to check the status of some clients who applied for Anthem plans through CoveredCA. All but one show up in their system but NO AGENT IS ATTACHED TO THE APPLICATION! These clients named me as their agent and they show up on my CoveredCA agent dashboard. The representative at Anthem said that CoveredCA sent them the app without showing that an agent had been designated. Anthem now wants the applicants to send signed letters naming me as their agent and they want me to complete an attestation form for each. This is crazy! I just sent an email to the president of my local chapter of CAHU. Please tell me that someone at CC is aware of this and is working to fix it.

If any part of the exchange rollout in California has been excellent, it’s our public relations campaign. I don’t know what we are paying Ogilvy PR, but they have been worth it. The public has no idea how poorly things are going (unless they have tried to complete an online application, talk to a service center rep, or basically get anything done). The privacy flap, bogus enrollment numbers, an older sicker pool, no generation y enrollment, an on and on. Like water off a duck’s back. Beautiful!

I complete my CC application and was informed that I qualify for Midi-Cal. Now it’s been 2 weeks and I have not been contacted by anyone. To insure that I have coverage on January 1, should I consider buying a policy to hold me over until I hear from my county? (Ventura county)

Called BS again today and they did get my application! YaY! Said to expect a bill in about one to two weeks. So - anyone stressing about it, looks like things are finally happening.

Similar to mine, until today…

Dec 11 email from BlueShieldCA …. we received your application information from Covered California on December 7, 2013. In order to finalize your enrollment …. a binder payment …. is owed.

What are the subsidy and tax implications of paying the binder in 2013 vs 2014 ? If I pay in Dec 2013, will that payment qualify for a credit on my 2014 tax return ? I think I will pay now irregardless, I want to get this over with, but it would be nice to know.

I faxed my proof of income and social security card. How do I know that CoveredCA recived it? I also have not received any invoice from Kaiser and do not know how and where to send the first month’s prmium. hope you can help.

I enrolled in an Anthem Blue Cross policy on 12/7. On 12/10 I called Anthem at 866-807-0610. They were able to find me in their system and told me to send the initial premium to Anthem BC, P.O. Box 9094, Oxnard CA 93031-9041. I was given a “control application” number to submit with my payment. I was told I must send in the payment before they would process my application. I was told NOT to wait for an invoice from them.

Unfortunately BS says they have no record of me. Also, when I called the automated case # line, it says there is no enrollment information available for me. If I call the application #, they do indicate I am conditionally eligible. But according to BS and the case # line, I am not enrolled???
