Why No Training Date?

Question: I called Covered CA—told to wait for e-mail you mentioned last week. So far, no e-mail to pick in person training. What can I do?

Answer: I’ve had some agents tell me that their status had changed from pending to eligible but they have not received the login info for training. In the meantime, here’s the training schedule. Click image to enlarge.

The 4-hour online training session to follow is to train the agent to interface with the Covered California online enrollment, so hopefully some of the topics you cited as missing from the classroom session will be covered then.

I’m currently at the CoveredCA certification class in Fresno. We’re almost half way through the material. I am convinced that we’re not going to receive specific details about plans, the application and eligibility process, etc. through any sort of training program. It’s going to be on-the-job training for agents. We will figure things out by trial and error as we enroll clients in the exchange. And at this point it seems as though the only people who should go to the exchange are those individuals who will qualify for a subsidy. Has anyone else been to the training? Was your experience similar?

You don’t need to be certified Covered California to sell ACA-compliant off-exchange. You are still dealing directly with the carriers.

Since I have been an agent for 30 years, I’m dragging my feet on the whole ACA thing. Is certification required by all the carriers to conduct business on grandfathered plans, must an agent be certified to sell any of the carrer’s ACA compliant plans? I’m assuming you have to be certified for Exchange plans or SHOP plans. Thanks

Thank you for answering the training question. I did finally get the e-mail but Sept class was full for San Diego. What a mess

Sent several emails and got a call back late this afternoon from a very nice rep at Covered CA. She is helping me resolve the problem. Hopefully, I won’t have to go too far to find a training class.

I got threw today, just stay on the line and they will get you the email.

There is a major problem with certification classes. I show as eligible on my Covered CA profile yet have received nothing about registering for a class. Now it appears that the Orange County classes are about booked up. The phone number for agents is not working; it just rings and rings. What in the world can I do???
