Question: Will all plans bought from the exchange direct be assign to a broker in the area of the client. for servicing purposes? I am referring to SHOP as well as Individual.
Answer: Wouldn’t that be nice. No, Covered California will not pass on direct sales to agents. Additionally, individual leads beyond the call centers’ capacity will routinely be passed on to Assisters not agents. A spokesperson for the SHOP said that they would pass leads to agents. The SHOP depends primarily on agents for employer enrollments, so that makes sense, but we’ll have to wait to see how it works.
It is a sad day when the public is going to be enrolled by “assistants” not agents who have been in the business. I can’t wait for this to FAIL!
I would imagine that any referrals by Covered California would take into consideration the agent’s work experience, any authentic complaints filed by clients or prospects and the agents attention to servicing.

I am still wondering when and if CC will get with the times on allowing agents to send out quotes with pre-filled broker information that can be submitted as part of the completed application…Now that e-health is in the game, possibly they have reconsidered expecting a client to fill in the brokers name during the application process?
It makes sense to refer the SHOP business to agents. Business owners are benefited by having experienced, knowledgeable agents who can help them understand a broader range of particulars than the typical individual who decides to enroll in a health plan. H.Flemings (Flemings Insurance Services)
