Dependant Coverage to Age 26

By on | 1 Comment

Question: What happens with the 26 year old age limit for including dependants on the primary’s insurance policy?

Answer: The ability for a parent to include a dependent son or daughter on their family health insurance coverage to age 26 was one of the first implemented benefits of the ACA and it will continue to be offered indefinitely.

I KNOW THAT I CAN PUT MY KIDS ON MY FAMILY INSURANCE PLAN UP TO AGE 26. DO THEY STILL COUNT AS FAR AS BEING SUSBSIDIZED THROUGH COVERED CALIFORNIA. I HEARD SOMETHING ABOUT AGE 21 BEING THE CUT OFF FOR SUBSIDIES. LASTLY, IF WE CHOOSE ANTHEM (SILVER) THROUGH COVERED CALIFORNIA INSTEAD OF (SILVER)DIRECT WITH ANTHEM, IS THE COVERAGE AND DOCTOR AVAILABILITY THE SAME? WE NEED TO MAKE A DECISION FAST.

THANKS,

EM
